WRITERS' CORNER | Starting out and Succeeding as a Writer (Pt 1)

Being a writer is a big deal and also not a big deal. It's not a big deal because no generation has ever placed a high demand on ones ablility to write like our generation.
It is not uncommon to hear someone say stuff like, "can you mail me your business Idea?" "can you chat or let me know what's your mind through my facebook inbox or mail. I would reply later." All of this is in a bead to spend time wisely because speed is measured in time.
It's also a big deal because if you want to write a book targeted at an audience, they are a lot of skillful approach that one must not overlook. One of these is to make sure the information is relevant to the audience and how best to communicate your views to them. It demands too that you have insight and hindsight to what you are writting on.
Permit me therefore to say, that, if there is a generation that must kill the myth of 'writing is a talent meant for a few', it our this generation. For no matter how much we argue that writing is a talent, the truth still remains that it can also be learnt.
On 'The Writer's Corner', we shall be taking tips that would help any become a better writer. So here is the first tip.
TIP ONE: BELIEVE YOU CAN WRITE. One thing that hinders to be great writers is a poor belief system. You find some saying things like."people would reject my work" " it won't make sence?" "Mr B said my works are aweful, I don't think it would be any better"
Those thought pattern are dream killers. They drain your ideas faster than you can imagine.
When you think of yourself as not good, that what you act out eventually.
But here is the good news, as long as you can communicate verbally, you have access to a paper and a pen and you thought about something great worth writing; my dear, you can write and write real good.
So first you need to take your mind off your concerns and focus on your goal of writing with determination in your heart.
No great man ever got to the top without fears but they mastered their fears and refused to go through the motion.
Grace and excellence flows in the direction of those who believe that they can do stuffs unimaginable.
Rejection would come but don't let it stop you. My dear 'wanna be writer', do yourself a favour and believe you can write.
Next time on "The Writers Corner", I would be sharing the second tip.
Have a lovely day.
